The University of Iceland offers two introductory courses in astronomy for the general student. These are

The University does not have a special program leading to a B.Sc. degree in astronomy or astrophysics. Therefore students who are planning to do advanced study in these fields usually choose physics as their major for the B.Sc. degree. For those students and others the Physics Department offers an undergraduate course called

as well as the opportunity of working on special projects for credit. Students with sufficient preparation are also allowed to take graduate courses.

The Physics Department offers students the possibility of studying for the M.S. and Ph.D degrees in astrophysics. At present the graduate courses are
